The Mardi Gras Tournament hosted by the LSU ultimate club went well overall. Despite dealing with rough conditions most of Saturday the MUtants played very well for their first tournament of the year. Saturday started with a game against a very strong Wisconsin B team which has given the Mizzou squad troubles in recent history. After taking the first half with a score of 7-6, the game tightened up immediately after the break leaving the game at 9-9 for a double game point, in which Wisconsin B scored and won the game. Mizzou started its next game against Texas Christian a little flat as a result of the defeat, but was able to hold on for a slim victory. After the bye, Mizzou had new life and came out fired up against a strong Georgia B team and jumped out to a good lead right away. The MUtants held on to that lead throughout and utilized the long game to further extend the lead in the second half.

Sunday started the same way that Saturday ended with another great performance against Texas. The game came to an end at 13-8 on a freshman line score and massive spike by Brian Esmond. Although the day started out well, the next game quickly became a train wreck against Northwestern State, as the MUtants struggled against the zone and fell to a 7-1 deficit at half. After having the first point of the half scored against them to make the score 8-1, Mizzou bounced back with a great stretch of defense, good enough for a ten point run, and an 11-9 lead. The MUtants went on to win 13-9 and advance to the B- bracket finals to meet a very experienced Florida State team. Although, the game remained close for a good amount of time, the effort used in the comeback against Northwestern became to much and Mizzou's legs weared down and Florida St. took over in the second half>

Frostbite 3, hosted by Missouri State Ultimate, started out great for the MUtants on Saturday. Coming into the tournament a three seed in their pool, The MUtants were out to prove a point. They started the day against Oklahoma St. jumping out to a lead and never letting up. Oklahoma St. started to make a come back in the end, but Mizzou held on to win the match 11-7. Against a first year team, Webster, in the second game, Mizzou took care of business again by taking advantage of the inexperience and rolling on to a 13-4 win. The third game was the biggest of the day as the MUtants would take on the number one seed in their pool, Wisconsin: Eau Claire. The game was an offensive display as Mizzou took the half, 7-5, sporting the only break of the game. The game remained a back and forth type battle, but the MUtants D was able to get a few more breaks and hold on to top the number 1 with a final of 13-9. In the last game, Mizzou enjoyed the hard work of the day and finished off strong against Missouri State's B-team, playing in their very first tournament

Although Saturday was a great success, Sunday turned out to be a let down. Coming into Sunday with a first round bye, Mizzou started sluggishly against a very smart and althletic Harding team. Although the Mutants were able to get a few breaks in the second half it was too little too late and Harding got a big win, 13-7. Let down by the loss, Mizzou lacked the intensity as a team to pull out a win against Wisconsin: Whitewater and went on to drop the game 13-6.

Sectionals is what you play for all year. It is your chance to move on and try to make a name for yourself. Going into the tournament, Mizzou was very happy with their position as the seventh overall spot seeing as 7 teams would represent the Ozark section at the South Regionals. Mizzou got the day started off right by winning its first game against a shorthanded SLU team, 13-5. The next game seemed to be the big one to hold seed for Saturday against the number three seed in the pool , Kansas State, who had given #1 Arkansas all they could handle. Mizzou quickly fell down 5-0, but applied an effective zone to tighten the game down 7-5 at the half. The zone continued to work in the second half and the MUtants were able to crawl back to a 13-12 win on double game point. The next game put a hault to Mizzou's plans as they once again fell into a 5-0 hole. Although the MUtants defense was once again able to bring the game back to a 10 all tie, Kansas scored the last two under cap to win 12-10.

After losing to Arkansas in the last game Saturday, the Mizzou Ultimate team had a long road in front of them in order to capture the 7th spot to regionals. It would take three straight wins Sunday morning to qualify for a trip to Tulsa. They started the day on the right foot, winning against an energetic John Brown "Ultimate Disc" team, 13-10. In the second game of the day the legs ran low for a very thin Missouri roster and Truman State's numbers proved to be too much, in a 13-7 win over the MUtants. Mizzou went on to win its last two games of the day against Kansas-B and Oklahoma State, and took the number 8 spot in the Ozark section, and claim the alternate spot to regionals in case anyone dropped.
